Explanation of Competitive Format and Discipline:
Dew Tour’s signature Team Challenge also features some exciting new updates this year. The teams will be tasked with building a squad of one male and one female for skateboarding, modified superpipe and streetstyle, with a total of six riders each. This year’s competition will be three of the top ski brands — Volkl, Atomic and Faction — and three of the top ski brands — Burton, Oakley and Volcom, vying for their respective overall titles. Each discipline will be the best of the two-track format, where athletes will be judged based on the overall impression. The best points of the two-turn running event of each male and female athlete in each section will be counted. These two scores are combined to have a total team score. The points of all three sections are then added together into one total point, making the team with the highest score win.
This year’s steeplechase race will invite riders to jump three times and four slips with a total of seven hits in a top-to-bottom run. Qualifying for men’s skiing and snowboarding will feature 16 riders and there will be two runs with their highest runs going to be judged on the overall impression. The men’s final will take the top nine from qualifying and include the winner from the 2018 Winter Dew Tour. Women’s skiing and snowboarding will go straight to a final with a court size of 8 opponents. Both the men’s and women’s finals are judged on the top three.
Athletes competing in the pipeline have the challenge of crossing the modified super-speed slide. Ten men and eight women in the skiing and snowboarding disciplines will advance straight to a final and will be judged on their best results out of three.
Dew Tour will be coming to Copper Mountain on February 6-9, 2020. Don’t miss it!
