The season is coming to an end and the Injury Reserve hasn’t been too active since the end of the year. Normally, this is the time when players with persistent injuries rest and rehabilitation that they need to heal themselves, however, it’s great to see that our squad is almost 100 per cent healthy.
Jujhar Khaira returned to the lineup last night against the Anaheim Ducks after being sidelined for several weeks with a foot injury. It’s unclear what Khaira has to deal with, however, I guess it’s a persistent injury from his previous stress fracture. After a decisive match, it was fun to see Khaira back on the ice. At this time of the season, it is easy to sit out due to a persistent injury, so I am happy that Jujhar is back playing.
Jesse Puljujarvi remains the only player on the injured reserve list. As I mentioned earlier, normally IR for the Oilers is much busier at this time of year, but we’ve been lucky enough to get a relatively healthy group over the past few weeks.
Puljujarvi is still reconstructing his hip bone after successful surgery. The Oilersnation and Edmonton Tourism teamed up last weekend to host a group of 24 hockey fans from Finland. As you can imagine, they’re both huge Jesse Puljujarvi fans, so Jesse visited them wednesday for the morning ice skating session! It’s mentally exhausting to sit in the press box while in IR, it’s fun to see Jesse spend the day visiting some fans!
Interesting things around the tournament.
Taylor Hall remains on IR with a lower-body injury.
Evgeni Malkin suffered an upper-body injury day after day.
Erik Karlsson is listed for a groin injury.
Marc-Andre Fleury is still day after day with a lower-body injury.
